We’re supporting the Stars Foundation to help more First Nations girls and young women reach for the stars with mentoring programs and training.

We’re proud to today donate $120,000 from The Lott by Tatts NT community fund, bringing our total contribution to more than $700,000 since 2019.

It’s helped deliver 73 school programs across Australia, empowering First Nations girls and young women to reach their full potential at school and beyond.

The Stars Foundation currently supports about 4,000 students – 14 times more than when it began a decade ago. More than 90% of senior students are now completing Year 12 studies each year, with about 85% successfully transitioning into the workforce or higher education within six months of graduating.

Stars Foundation Founder and CEO Andrea Goddard said the funding helped close the gap so more First Nations girls and young women could better their lives and pursue their aspirations.

“At the heart of the Stars Foundation is our commitment to ensuring Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls and young women have the same opportunities as boys, with direct access to mentors and education programs that are built around culture, community and wellbeing,” Andrea said.

“Funding through partnerships allows us to continue offering holistic, wrap-around support that equip our students with the tools to succeed at school and make active choices about their future.”

Our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said The Lottery Corporation was proud to create a lasting impact among First Nations communities.

“We understand that education breeds resilience and it gives us great satisfaction knowing our support is helping First Nations girls and young women take charge of their futures, not only for themselves, but also for their families and their communities,” Liz said.
