One in five people experience mental illness each year and one life is lost to suicide every 40 seconds worldwide.

By encouraging open dialogue and early intervention, not-for-profit organisation LIVIN is working to ensure that seeking help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.

Its mission is to change the conversation around mental health for a future where suicide is no longer the leading cause of death among young Australians.

Today, we’re continuing our support of LIVIN with $200,000 from The Lott by Golden Casket unclaimed prizemoney.

“With this support, LIVIN will be able to deliver their LIVINWell School Program to more than 10,000 students throughout Queensland,” our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said.

“It’s about creating environments where young people feel safe to talk about their mental health and know that help is always available.”

LIVIN was founded in memory of Dwayne Lally, who was deeply loved by his friends and family, but like many people, lived in silence because of the stigma around mental health. Dwayne sadly took his own life, and that unimaginable loss ignited a movement to break the silence and challenge the attitudes surrounding mental health.

“It’s the generosity of partners like The Lott that allows us to keep moving forward,” LIVIN co-founder Casey Lyons said.

“This donation means we can reach even more young people, equipping them with the knowledge and confidence to look after themselves and each other.”
