Keno’s donation to improve food accessibility in the ACT

More than 763,000 households in NSW and the ACT went hungry in the past 12 months mainly due to the current cost of living crisis.

And while Foodbank – Australia’s largest not-for-profit food relief organisation – is there to help, the need for food relief services across the ACT is so great that the 587,000 meals Foodbank provided to the region’s residents only met 28% of the demand.

It’s why our Keno business is proud to today donate $200,000 which will enable Foodbank NSW & ACT to fund a full-time van and employee to service the ACT.

Foodbank NSW & ACT CEO John Robertson said the donation would have instant impact.

“We are so grateful to Keno, and this donation means we are going to be able to get more food where it’s needed most, which is directly in line with our mission,” he said.

“I am really excited for the opportunities this affords us and for the chance to help the Canberra community. Without this Keno donation, we wouldn’t be able to get food where it's needed.”

Our Head of ESG Hans de Koning said Keno was passionate about supporting the communities it operates in.

“Foodbank’s work is so important to communities in the ACT region,” he said.

“We couldn’t be prouder to begin this journey with such an amazing charity.”
