Since 2020, DV Safe Phone has supported nearly 15,000 Australians experiencing domestic violence with a secure phone, providing them with the ability to act, plan and reach out without fear of being tracked or controlled.

For the second year, we’re proud to donate $50,000 to the charity to support their mission that every call for help be answered.

For every device collected or donated, DV Safe Phone has a specialised team working to test, repair and distribute these to 500-plus partners including agencies, shelters, hospitals and police stations.

On average, a refurbished safe phone costs $75. However, the impact on Australian lives is priceless.

DV Safe Phone Founder and CEO Ashton Wood said equipping those experiencing domestic violence with safe, untraceable phones gives an instant, secure lifeline when they need it most.

“For a domestic violence victim, no phone means no way to call for help, check in with family, organise safe accommodation, or receive vital updates from police or support services. It’s complete isolation at a time when they need connection the most,” he said.

“Donations from The Lott enable us to do more good for Australians doing it tough; funding not just the phones, but the vital work that transforms them into tools of safety and freedom.”

Our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson added: “We’re immensely proud to continue our partnership with DV Safe Phone and the incredible work they are doing nationwide to empower and give hope to victims.”
