After founding the world’s first free mobile laundry and shower service to those experiencing homelessness and hardship in 2014, Lucas Patchett and Nic Marchesi took their orange vans to Darwin four years later.

Today we’re delighted to donate $90,000 from The Lott by Tatts NT to Orange Sky Australia to support its busy Darwin service.

The funds allow the charity’s hybrid van – named Betsy! – to keep offering the community free access to clean clothes and hot showers as well as the opportunity for genuine conversation.

Orange Sky Co-Founder and CEO Lucas Patchett said he was thrilled to partner with The Lott to help those doing it tough.

“With the rise in cost of living and the housing crisis, our services have never been busier, so it's never been a more important time to be there to support those doing it tough,” he said.

“We’re incredibly grateful for The Lott by Tatts NT coming on board to help our mission. With their support, we can continue to provide our essential services of clean laundry, safe hot showers and positive connection to our Darwin friends.

"We value building strong connections with local communities, and through this support, Orange Sky will be able to reach more people and families who need a helping hand, or even just a friendly face to chat to.”

Our Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said the donation is an incredible opportunity to support positive outcomes in Northern Territory communities.

“It’s not only the fresh clothes and showers that Orange Sky provides but it’s also their non-judgemental conversations that really does change the course of someone’s day,” she said.
